Awards, Accolades & Recognition
As the first junior high to open in Roseville, we’ve helped shape many generations of Wildcats! Since opening our doors nearly 5o years ago, we’ve witnessed firsthand incredible student athletes, scholars, entrepreneurs and heroes take flight! Over the years, Eich has been recognized with many presitgious awards and honors. Below are a few that we believe help tell our story.
California Distinguished School
In 1999, Eich earned its inaugural title of a California Distinguished School, which recognizes the state’s exemplary and inspiring public schools. Schools selected for the Distinguished School Award demonstrate substantial gains in narrowing the achievement gap. In 2013, the school earned recertification as a California Distinguished School by maintaining and exceeding significant AYP Growth Targets in all significant subgroups.
In order to be invited to apply for Distinguished School honors, schools must meet a variety of stringent eligibility criteria including designated federal and state accountability measures based on the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and the Academic Performance Index (API) requirements
Because Eich has maintained significant and consistent AYP Growth Targets in all significant subgroups, we were asked to apply for a recertification of this prestigious award, which tentatively will be awarded a second time in 2013.
National Blue Ribbon School
In 2000, Eich was selected to be a recipient of the National Blue Ribbon School.
The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students’ levels of academic achievement.
Since 1982, the U.S. Department of Education’s National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has honored America’s most successful public and private elementary, middle, and high schools. To have a National Blue Ribbon flag waving overhead has become a trademark of excellence, a symbol of quality recognized by everyone from parents to policy-makers, in thousands of communities. In its 30-year history, the U. S. Department of Education has bestowed this coveted award on nearly 7,000 of America’s schools. Next time you come to our campus, pay special attention to the flags displayed to remind all Wildcats that with a lot of hard work, teamwork and consistency, great things can happen!
Project Fit America
In 2006, Eich was once again paving the way to benefit future students. In partnership with Project Fit America, a national agency that works with schools and educators to create opportunities for kids to be active, fit and healthy, Eich became an exemplary fitness model in education. We were selected to receive state of the art fitness equipment, much like you what you’ll find in a cross-fit type of setting. This includes stations such as parallel bars, pull up bars, horizontal ladder and more.
Project Fit American works with communities to bring funding, equipment, teacher training, curriculum and the resources to schools with the goal of getting kids fit and fostering a love of movement. When Project Fit America comes to a school, kids never want to miss PE and teachers report they see fantastic changes not just in their students’ health, but also in their attitude toward fitness and healthy life styles.
This equipment is utilized daily by students to help with their fitness goals. In addition, it is available for public use. We believe it’s important to challenge the mind and the body!
